Greece long-stay visa — FAQ
- What income do I need for the Greek Digital Nomad Visa?
- €3,500/month net for the main applicant, +20% for a spouse (€700/month) and +15% per dependent child (€525/month). The figures are codified in Law 4825/2021 and unchanged for 2026.
- Does the Greek DNV include a tax break?
- The tax benefit and the visa are separate regimes. Article 5C of the Greek Income Tax Code offers a 50% reduction on qualifying Greek-source employment or self-employment income for the first 7 years of Greek tax residence for applicants transferring their tax residence to Greece. Eligibility conditions apply — consult a Greek tax advisor before relying on it.
- Can I work for Greek clients on the DNV?
- No. Law 4825/2021 requires the remote activity to be for a non-Greek employer or non-Greek clients.
- Is the DNV 1 year or 2 years?
- The entry Type D visa is issued for up to 12 months. Within that period you may apply at the Ministry of Migration and Asylum to convert it into a 2-year residence permit for digital nomads, renewable in 2-year blocks.
- Do I need a real flight ticket for the long-stay visa appointment?
- For long-stay applications, consulates focus primarily on your accommodation contract, financial evidence, and purpose documentation. A flight reservation is a supporting document only — a verifiable one-way or onward booking (live PNR) is sufficient; a paid non-refundable ticket is not required. Submitting unverifiable documents can trigger refusal on grounds of false or misleading documentation under the applicable national visa rules of the destination country. Best practice is a hold-the-fare or refundable booking kept live until the decision. The SchengenDoc kit produces the monthly stay plan sample that accompanies your file.
